The Allegany Arts Council will host its 5th Annual Allegany National Photography Competition and Exhibition (ANPCE) April 6-27, 2019.

Prizes

The juried show offers $5,000 in prize money, including $1,500 for Best of Show. It also offers the opportunity for photographers to exhibit their artwork in the Saville Gallery, located in the heart of historic downtown Cumberland, Maryland. 

Call for Entry

All entries will be submitted using CAFE (www.callforentry.org) and the call will be open by December 1, 2018.  Photographers may submit a maximum of six (6) entries in categories which include, color, monochrome and multi-dimentional. All entered work must be for sale and must have been created by the submitting artist within the past three (3) years. 

The deadline to submit entries is February 26, 2018. 

Juror

Dan Leers is the Curator of Photography with the Carnegie Museum of Art in Pittsburgh. PA, and will serve the ANCPE as its 2019 juror.  

Prior to joining Carnegie Museum of Art in May 2015, Leers was an independent curator in New York City and a curatorial advisor to the 2013 Venice Biennale. From 2007 to 2011, he served as the Beaumont and Nancy Newhall Curatorial Fellow in the department of photography at the Museum of Modern Art, New York. During his tenure at MoMA, Leers organized the exhibition New Photography 2011: Moyra Davey, George Georgiou, Deana Lawson, Doug Rickard, Viviane Sassen, Zhang Dali.

Leers graduated with a BA from Lawrence University in Appleton, Wisconsin, and an MA from Columbia University. Since arriving in Pittsburgh, Leers has curated Strength in Numbers: Photography in Groups and William Henry Fox Talbot and the Promise of Photography.
